CINEMA NOVEMBER-DECEMBER: "MULAN"

Hi my wonderful pupils!!
Because of the celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women our next film will be Mulan.

SUMMARY:

Based on a Chinese folk-tale, Mulan is a young high-spirited girl who tries hard to please her parents but always feels like she is disappointing them. Her father is drafted into the army which amounts to certain death because of his old age. Mulan disguises herself as a man and takes her father's place in battle, guided by a guardian dragon, Mushu. At the height of her success her secret is revealed and she is banished from home. But, undaunted she fights and defeats enemy invaders and saves the Emperor, bringing great honor to her family.

SEVEN HUNDRED WOMEN MURDERED IN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASES IN SPAIN

A total of 700 women have been murdered in Spain in the last decade in crimes which have been attributed to gender violence, with 600,000 women said to suffer each year, but only a quarter of cases are reported, according to the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas.

In 2003, when records began to be collated with a new outlook on violence towards women, 71 were killed, 62 of whom were Spanish. The youngest was less than 17 years of age, whereas 27 of the women were in their 30´s, the largest age group affected. In over half of the cases recorded, the acts of violence were conducted by their male partner. Statistics were revised in 2006, taking other elements into account.

In 2012, the last whole year for which data is available, the figure was the lowest since 2003, although there was still a tragic 52 domestic related killings. So far this year there has been 42 officially recorded deaths, with an additional 4 cases awaiting confirmation that they could be classed as domestic abuse.

Of course the victims are not only those who are killed, one survey reveals that 840,000 children are affected by violence between their parents, with over half a million directly abused. This year, some 37 children have become orphaned as a direct result of a domestic violence related death.

Amnesty International are heading a campaign called “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence”, which starts on the 25th of November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on the 10th of December, which is Human Rights Day, in the hope of raising awareness about gender-based violence as a human rights issue at the local, national, regional and international level.

LUZ TÓXICA

Hello everybody!
Como os prometí, aquí tenéis alguna información sobre las bombillas de bajo consumo. Esta es otra información diferente a la que se nos ofrece en los medios de comunicación de masas. Creo que es muy importante ver este vídeo y, posteriormente, que cada cual elija si quiere ponerlas o no. Creo que el medio ambiente agradecería más que no las usáramos y nuestra salud también. No se puede reducir el consumo de energía a costa de lo que sea, sobre todo si la salud está en juego. Hay otras formas de reducir. Las bombillas led son una alternativa y no nos las publicitan tanto.

8-M Día Internacional de la Mujer

Hello compañeras y compañeros!!!!
Aquí dejo algunas actividades que podéis realizar para estas fechas con vuestro alumnado. Al principio pensé clasificar las actividades por ciclos pero creo que es mejor que las veáis vosotras/os y elijáis la/s que os gustan para vuestro alumnado ya que, según se trabajen, pueden tener cabida en varios ciclos. Ya sabéis que esto es sólo algo que yo aporto por si no tenéis tiempo de mirar otras cosillas pero no tenéis por qué hacer estas. Posteriormente pediré un pequeño resumen-valoraión de lo que hayáis hecho para ponerlo en la memoria y que nos sea útil para próximas actuaciones.

PD. Si tenéis alguna duda preguntadme por los pasillos, jejeje!!! 

Propuesta de ACTIVIDADES (o tareas?????, jeje!)
 a) Los próximos días 7 y 8 habrá una charla que nos "regalará" nuestra maestra jubilada María Isabel. Se hará por ciclos y os pasaré los horarios en cuanto hable con ella.

b) "Investigación" sobre María Montessori. Podría hacerse de manera que se pudiera comparar la trayectoria y las dificultades que encontró esta mujer en su camino para llegar a donde llegó y como, casi un siglo después, otras mujeres (en este caso de la época de María Isabel) todavía encontraban dificultades. También se podría hacer un análisis de las dificultades que algunas mujeres encuentran en la actualidad. Analizar los aspectos negativos y los avances a los que se ha llegado gracias al esfuerzo de algunas personas. Animarles a que formen parte del colectivo que "lucha" y que anima y no de los/las que ponen freno a la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres.

Un maravilloso poema que obtuvo el primer premio en el concurso de poesía "Gabriela Mistral" en Quito, Ecuador en 1992 y la autora es  JENNY LONDOÑO. Esta extraordinaria mujer es una activista a favor de la equidad y los derechos de las mujeres. (Os lo pasaré en un lápiz de memoria)
